■ Won an order in a competitive bidding to which only 3 European cable companies and LS Cable were invited
■ Extra high voltage cable orders from abroad for the first half year of 2008 has increased by more than 50% compared to the same quarter of 2007
Seoul, July 15, 2008 - LS Cable (CEO, Chayol Koo) announced on July 15 that they won an order for US$40 million extra high voltage cables and accessories ranging from 115kV to 230kV from US Platte River Power Authority (PRPA). LS Cable will supply products to the areas ranging from St. Brain to Longmont starting in November 2008 and complete the construction by June 2010.
LS Cable, as a Korean company in 2006, first exported extra high voltage cables worth US$60 million to the east USA. They expect this launch in the Midwest to become an opportunity to expand their market, which is currently occupied by European companies, to the whole America.
In this bidding, only 4 companies, Nexans of France, Prysmian of Italy, Silec of France and LS Cable were invited.
Vice Chairman, Chayol Koo of LS Cable said that, “Since the demand to replace the old extra high voltage cables has greatly increased, we expect additional orders in USA no other company can produce extra high voltage cables.”
LS Cable won orders more than US$300 million EHV cables and accessories only in the overseas market centered in the Middle East and the USA for the half year of 2008, achieving more than 50% sales and operating profits increases compared to the same quarter of 2007.
