■ Obtained AEO and FTA customs approved exporter certification as the first in the cable industry 
■ Customs clearance simplified, various costs reduced, export competitiveness enhanced 

Seoul, Korea, March, 15th - LS Cable(Chairman & CEO: Christopher Koo) announced on the 15th that the company had obtained AEO (authorized economic operator) certification certifying excellence of import  export and safety management (see terminology) from the Korea Customs Service as the first in the Korean cable industry to do so. LS Cable had already obtained FTA customs approved exporter certification in December 2010. As a result, LS Cable has become the only company in the Korean cable industry to hold both of the export-related certifications. LS Cable anticipates that with these certifications its entry into global markets will be further expedited. 

The AEO system is where the tax authorities of each country review conformance with laws, internal control systems, safety management standards and the financial soundness of a company based on the import and export supply network safety management criteria of the World Customs Organization. The certified companies are afforded comprehensive benefits in terms of customs procedures. At present, this system is being implemented in 45 countries including the U.S., China, the EU, Japan and Canada. These countries represent 63% share of world trade volume and 67% of Korea’s exports. 

With this achievement, LS Cable will be able to save both the time and cost required in customs clearance as customs inspection procedures will be simplified and expedited. This led to a significant improvement in the company’s export competitiveness. In addition, there will be procedural benefits, such as exemption of customs inspection, simplified reporting, reduction of fines and exemption of regular audits by customs offices. As a result, LS Cable will be internationally recognized as a company of safety and reliability producing positive effects to secure new customers and enhance the company’s image. 

LS Cable obtained the FTA customs approved exporter certification in December of last year. This is the system whereby the Korea Customs Office grants benefits to companies certified to have the abilities of verifying origins of products. The benefits include simplified procedures for document submission or of certificate of origin issuance. With this certification, LS Cable will enjoy more expedited certificate of origin issuance not only for the countries with which an FTA has already been concluded (India, ACEAN, Chile and EFTA), but also for the Korea–EU and Korea–U.S. FTA to take effect in the near future. Accordingly, LS Cable will be able to more speedily respond to customers’ demands and benefit from reduced time and costs required for handling export procedures.
