■ Held at LS Tower for two days from May 26 to 27, it is their first event inviting employees’ families this year
■ It becomes a festival with LS staff and customers sharing time together
■ The chairman, John Koo explained that “differentiated R & D competence is the power of enterprise development,” he also emphasized to “maximizing technology exchanges and synergy to secure world-class technology.” 

LS Group (Chairman: John Koo) held the “LS T-Fair 2008” at LS Tower (location: Hogye-dong, Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do) whose construction has recently been completed. It is an event reporting research & development activities to increase technology competitiveness, and promote motivation between major affiliates, and an exhibition event as well. 

In this event, about 300 staff participated; CEOs of each subsidiary companies such as LS Chairman, John Koo; LS Cable Vice-chairman, Christopher Koo; Gaon Cable Vice-chairman, Koo Cha-Yub; Chief Technology Officer, R&D Director and researchers. They experienced new technologies and new products that will lead the future of LS and exchanged strategies in technology development.

In the opening speech, Chairman John Koo said that “Under unstable management environment, only a differentiated R&D competence is the power for an enterprise towards development.” He also added that “T-Fair festival shows the group’s willingness to strongly support and develop R&D.” 

He said that “LS will maximize technology exchanges and synergy between groups, lead the global market by securing the best technology in the world for innovative and creative R&D activities.” He also emphasized that “T-Fair will promote the technology competence of the group in the future.” 

In a new premise, it was the first T-Fair event for LS. The families of employees including researchers’ families were invited to visit the exhibition. Through luncheon and various events such as movie watching, it became a sharing festival with LS employees and customers, and not only a festival for researchers. 

‘T-Fair 2008,” the fourth event this year, was held in the lobby and main hall of LS Tower. On the 26th, the exhibition was mainly opened to invited customers, while families of the researchers and LS employees visited the exhibition and participated in the events on the following day. 

With six themes focusing on solutions and future-oriented core R&D fields systems, more than 100 products were exhibited. Through comparisons of their technologies with competitors and global enterprises, it focuses on the promotion of the excellence of LS technology. 

In the awards ceremony, the development of compact-type bus duct (duct type cable where large-capacity electric power can be transferred in smaller spaces) of LS Cable, Susol Air Circuit Breaker (ACB) of LS Industrial Systems, technology producing high-purity copper nickel of LS-Nikko Copper and the development of optical fiber composite cables  of Gaon Cable won as the best projects.

In the technology seminar held on the 26th, LS and non-LS experts energetically discussed the status and prospects of power transmission industry in the overseas market, ubiquitous solution for wire and wireless telecommunications and LS-HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial/ultra-speed wired telecommunication network) technologies, and Smart VoD (Video on Demand).
