■ LSIS held dedication ceremony for the new town mega-solar park with total capacity of 40MW in Mito, Ibaraki
■ Solar park with maximum output of 30,000kW built on a 500,000㎡ site with investment from Goldman Sachs, under JRE’s
management
■ LSIS won order for project, worth KRW 40 billion and involving installation of 156,840 photovoltaic modules, in 2013
LSIS recently completed the construction of a 40MW-class photovoltaic power station in Mito, Japan, 19 months after winning the
project order from Japan Renewable Energy (JRE) in July 2013. The photovoltaic power station is the largest of its kind in Japan,
occupying a 500,000m2 site.
LSIS announced that it would hold a dedication ceremony for the new town ‘Mega Solar Park in Mito, Ibaraki, on February 6,
before initiating full-blown operation of the photovoltaic power station.
JRE, which was established by the world-class investment bank Goldman Sachs to enter Japan’s new and renewable energy
markets, specializes in the development and operation of energy businesses.
LSIS signed a contract with the Japanese construction company Kasima to supply KRW 40 billion worth of equipment required for
the construction of a photovoltaic power station with a capacity of 30,000 kW, including 156,840 solar cell modules with a total
power output of 39,210kW, ring main units (RMU) and transformers.
By successfully completing the photovoltaic power station, LSIS has proved its technological prowess in Japan’s photovoltaic
market, and is set to further advance into the country’s power markets with its diverse solutions.
An LSIS official said, “LSIS has successfully completed its first project for JRE, attracting keen attention from Japan’s mega-
solar market. Although the global solar industry is still sluggish, we will boost our market share by promoting our specialized
solutions.”
He continued, “We have participated in the PV Expo, held annually in Tokyo, in the past, but this year we will shift to the smart
grid Expo, and open the largest booth among Korean companies. We aim to penetrate more deeply into Japanese markets, not
only with our photovoltaic energy solutions but also with our smart-grid total
solutions.”
Meanwhile, LSIS was ranked third after Germany’s SolarWorld in a 2013 survey of quality photovoltaic modules conducted by
PVeye, a Japanese newspaper specializing in photovoltaic energy, attesting to the high quality of the company’s solar module
technology.
