■ Attends French CIGRE and meets executives from global heavy electric companies
■Holds special meeting with HVDC partner, Alstom, to expand cooperation on ICT-based solutions
■ Develops devices into basic and intelligent systems to further penetrate global markets
LSIS Vice Chairman Ja-kyun Koorecently stated that the mainstream trend in global electric power markets will be intelligent convergence solutions, and pledged to further penetrate global markets through the company’s core capabilities in this sector.
Vice Chairman Koo attended Conseil International des Grands Reseaux Electriques (CIGRE) 2014, held in Paris from August 25to29, where he discussed the future of electric power systems with global leaders in the electric power sector.
CIGRE is a biennial power system conference in which officials from power agencies, global electric device companies, oil refiners, gas companies and related research institutes from around the world participate, making it the world’s largest symposium and exhibition in the electricity sector.
Vice Chairman Koo met with France’s representative power company RTE’s CEO and former CIGRE Chairman, Andre Merlin, Alstom Grid CEO Gregoire Guillaume, and other high-ranking executives from other global power companies.
Notably, Vice Chairman Koo had a special meeting with high-ranking executives led by Alstom’s Asia-Pacific and China President Michelle Sara . They agreed to expand the ongoing cooperation on HVDC between LSIS and Alstominto next-generation circuit breakers manufactured with eco-friendly materials, and ICT-based solutions related to energy efficiency.
Vice Chairman Koo also toured the LSIS and LS Cable & System booths, as well as the booths of ABB, Alstom, SIEMENS, and GE among other global competitors with aview to inspecting global power market trends, during the exhibition.
At the exhibition, Vice Chairman Koo emphasized, “LSIS has led the domestic market in terms of core smart grid capabilities, but in order to penetrate the global market, the company should strive to develop solutions designed to stabilize the operation of electric power systemsand ensure effective use of electric power.”
He continued, “Beyond the innovation of existing devices, we need to develop intelligent system products mounted with diagnosis and watch functions. We should link the company’s strengths of system software and network communication technology to intelligent devices. Thus, we should change into a convergence solution maker.”
He added, “We have succeeded in boosting our exports to 40% of our total sales, but we should strive to further increase our exports by developing convergence solutions wherein diverse technologies are mounted onto existing power systems.”
