Seoul, Korea, May, 31st - On the 31st, it was announced that LS Cable & System (Chairman and CEO Christopher Koo) had been awarded the SF Mark and Environmental Mark from the FITI Testing & Research Institute (formerly: Korea Textile Testing Inspection Office) and KEITI (Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute) respectively for its high-density carpet tile, PURGOTEX. 

PURGOTEX is a premium carpet tile characterized by it flocking technology, which makes carpet piles stand upright using static electricity. The density of PURGOTEX is 80 million piles per square meter which is 10 times more than general carpets. LS Cable & System successfully developed this product in 2009 as the first in Korea. The highly dense structure not only prevents propagation of dust mites and bacteria and infiltration of pollutants, but also solves sanitary issues involved in using a carpet as it can be easily washed with water. In addition, the piles, which are arranged in independent vertical structures, are not as easily loosened as in general carpets. With its exceptional durability, PURGOTEX can be used as new for very long times. 

FITI’s SF Mark (Sanitary Finished Mark) is given to products after a series of tests to check their safety to human health, toxicity and sanitary functions. The important criteria are antibiosis and level of mildew proofing. The Environmental Mark from KEITI is awarded to products that generate relatively lower amounts of pollution in the course of production and consumption. For this certification, flooring materials are tested in terms of their contents of harmful substances, such as lead, cadmium and mercury, as well as their emissions and content of carcinogenic substances, such as toluene, formaldehyde and vinyl chloride monomer. 

In April, LS Cable & System obtained test results to satisfy CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) and FloorScore certificate from LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) of the U.S. for its rubber flooring products. Following the achievements, LS Cable & System has again succeeded in winning a flocking carpet certification. As such, the excellent quality and environmental performance of LS Cable & System’s flooring products were officially acknowledged. 

LS Cable & System selected flooring as a business area for extensive development and has been targeting the market actively since 2011. For this, LS Cable & System will not only introduce a wide range of flooring products, but also continuously implement targeted marketing, such as inviting domestic and foreign customers to visit LS Cable & System offices and plants, organizing presentations in strategic bases abroad and participating in overseas exhibitions. Through the efforts, LS Cable & System will increase its share in the global market.
