■ Operating profits up 9% reaching 42.2 billion won amidst the continued improvement of power and automation operations
LS Industrial Systems (LSIS) said its third quarter performance tally showed sales of 305.9 billion won and operating profits of 42.2 billion won.
The figures represent a 13% growth in sales and a 9% expansion in operating profit, respectively, from the same period of last year (excluding LS Metal earnings).
An LSIS official said, “Business performance is improving overall, with the operation of power and automation businesses, including high and low voltage equipment, inverters, and PLC making notable advances,” adding, “As LSIS’ sales are characterized by seasonal factors with sales concentrating in second and fourth quarters, especially in the fourth quarter, and as the portion of its new businesses, including green business will likely increase up to 10% (about 140 billion won) effortlessly from the previous quarter by this year’s end, the company is expected to exceed its this year’s sales target of 1.4332 trillion won and an operating profit of 165.8 billion won.”
However, based on figures announced in public disclosures, last year’s third quarter performance data included figures from LS Metal, which was spun off last April. Thus, sales declined nine percent, and the operating percentage gained 8%.
An LSIS official said, “LS Metal saw order backlogs of large-radius thick pipes, which is a high value added business, jumping to 600 billion tons with orders likely to increase further into the fourth quarter. LSIS will likely see far more significant expansion starting next year, when LS Metal’s performance data will be consolidated.”
