On December 14, LS Cable (CEO, Chayol Koo) entered into an agreement supplying automotive cables amounting to US$34 million with Yazaki North America (YNA). YNA is a global enterprise for automobile harnesses (electronic parts) field.
This order amount is about 50% of the total US$70 million, which is the sales target in automotive cable business of LS Cable this year, and it is the biggest overseas export in this field.
Automotive cables to be supplied are for electric power of control panels such as headlights and indoor lights for various vehicle models. They will be supplying this for 3 years starting from January 2007 to the end of 2009.
With this order, securing fixed amount for 3 years, LS Cable gets an opportunity to develop a major partnership with Yazaki North America. It will in effect supply automotive parts to Big3 in USA such as GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler.
Taking this opportunity of export agreement for big-scale automotive cables, LS Cable decided to aggressively play a big role in the automobile market of USA, and also reinforce their marketing activities for automotive parts company as well as Yazaki. They started exporting to Yazaki North America since the end of 2005.
Yazaki Group, the mother company of Yazaki North America, who has entered into an agreement for big-scale automotive cables with LS Cable, occupies more than 30% share in harness market together with Delphi, a global company for auto parts. They are also one of the top 20 companies in the world auto parts industry with sales of US$7 billion.
