■ Introduces power receiving/transformation systems and power SCADA systems to Passenger Terminal 2, etc., during third-phase power system construction
■ With total cost of KRW 27 billion, systems to be constructed by September 2017
■ Power monitoring, failure analysis, and real-time communication control to stabilize airport operation
Amid the rising popularity of smart grids due to the power shortage crisis this summer, Incheon International Airport (“IIA”) has decided to construct smart power supply systems that enable efficient and stable energy operation, drawing the industry’s attention.
LSIS recently announced that IIA commissioned LSIS to construct power transformation and power SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems, a basic infrastructure system for the construction and operation of airports.
The KRW 27 billion project involves constructing power transformation systems and power SCADA systems by September 2017 at the airport’s 154kV main substation, intermediate power distribution systems, etc.
In response to the growing demand for aviation and number of passengers each year, IIA is implementing the third-phase construction project. As part of such efforts, IIA is driving this project to construct stable and smart airport power supply systems by further increasing power supply capacity and adopting international-standard communication systems in line with the automation of substations.
In relation to the increasing power demand at the new Passenger Terminal 2, its supplementary buildings, and various support facilities, LSIS will construct power transformation systems involving 170kV GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) and 154/22.9kV transformers as well as power SCADA systems that enable real-time power quality monitoring, accident analysis, and communication situation control.
According to an IIA official, under this project, they will construct power supply systems to complete in a timely manner the third-phase IIA construction project, after which they will stabilize IIA operation. They are determined to implement this project successfully, thereby further enhancing IIA’s profile as the world’s best airport. This, he says, will further boost the airport’s overseas business engine.
“Previously, at Gimhae Airport, Jeju Airport, and IIA, we implemented first- and second-phase uninterrupted power supply projects. Thus, we are confident that we will be able to complete the third-phase project successfully. With the smart grid solution technology, we will boost operational convenience, safety, and expandability, thereby further satisfying the client,” an LSIS official said.
