Employees of LS Cable & System Donghae Plant are making kimchi with local residents.
■ Employee volunteers and local residents participate as usual
On November 9th, LS Cable & System(President & CEO Roe-hyun Myung) held the annual ‘Share Kimchi of Love’ event together with local residents in Donghae, Gangwon-do.
About 30 employees of the Donghae Plant helped make kimchi from no fewer than 600 head of cabbage together with staff and residents of the Songjeong Senior Citizen Center and members of local organizations, such as cooperatives and women´s associations.
After the kimchi was made it was packaged into parcels which were then delivered to over 150 households in the local area consisting of national basic livelihood security recipients, senior citizens living alone, and low-income families in Songjeong-dong.
LS C&S has been co-sponsoring the kimchi sharing event every year since 2009 when the plant was constructed in Donghae. This event is funded by donations contributed by members of the volunteer corps named ´Jeongnanumhoe´ (Association for Sharing Love).
For many years LS C&S has been actively carrying out social contribution activities linked to the local community, such as sponsoring facilities for the disabled, conducting a science class for elementary schools known as the ‘Dream Science Class,’ carrying out electric safety inspections of traditional markets including the Bukpyeong market, and offering practical job training programs for Kangwon National University students.
