■ 10 times denser than ordinary carpet tiles
■ prevents ticks and enables water cleaning
March 16, Seoul, Korea - LS Cable announced that Korea’s largest producer of wires and cables has now become the first company in Korea to successfully produce PRUGO-TEX™, a carpet tile that not only prevents the infestation of ticks and spawning of harmful bacteria but is also water washable. LS intends to aggressively market this product as a durable and hygienic flooring solution for government office buildings, commercial facilities, day care centers, hospitals, welfare facilities and the like.
PRUGO-TEX™ is based on flocking technology that utilizes static electricity to induce the fibers to stand upright. This high-quality carpet tile for commercial use is characterized by its high-density structure which is 80-million strands/m², more than 10 times greater than that of ordinary carpet tiles. Since the initial introduction of products from England into Korea in 2005, total demand for this type of carpet tiles has been met only through imports.
As this product is dense in structure, it not only prevents infiltration of contaminants, infestation of ticks and spawning of harmful bacteria, but it also facilitates water cleaning, thereby eliminating concerns about hygiene. Also, since the fiber has an independent vertical structure, it does not run so easily as ordinary carpets. Accordingly, it is so durable that it feels new all the time.
LS Cable first capitalized on the compound technology (a technology for mixing raw materials) in 1994 after it acquired the process for manufacturing rubber cables and advanced into the commercial floor material market. LS released products first for airports, then electric rail cars, ships and stadiums. We currently have extensive installations at the Incheon International Airport, KTX, and subway line No. 4.

Commercial carpets are categorized into roll carpets, which are used in hotels, and carpet tiles, which are mostly used in commercial facilities and government office buildings. The size of the carpet tile market is estimated to be worth about KRW50 billion as of 2008. As carpet tile is easier to install and renovate than roll carpet, demand for it is on the rise.
