■ Operates five zones for floating photovoltaic system, industrial, power system, mega-solar, and housing solar energy
■ Entered the Japanese solar energy market as early as 2009, growing over 200% each year
■ Continues to develop housing and mega-solar power generation plant packages to penetrate the Japanese market
LSIS (Vice-Chairman & CEO Ja-Kyun Koo) showcased its total solar energy solutions at PV EXPO 2013 held from February 27 to March 1 at the Big Site in Tokyo, Japan.
Under the theme of sustainable history of innovation, the company deployed five solution zones: floating photovoltaic system, industrial, power system, mega-system, and housing solar energy.
Unlike up to last year, as many as 590 solar energy firms worldwide participated in the expo; expositions such as those for Smart Grids, Eco-Houses, and Japanese International Hydrogen and Fuel Cells were held simultaneously, making the expo a gala event.
In its floating photovoltaic system zone, LSIS displayed exclusive solar module technologies that can utilize dams or reservoirs and increase the power generation amount by 10% with natural cooling effects without taking up space or damaging forests. Moreover, the company promoted the fact that, in 2011, together with Korea Water Resources Corporation, it set up a 100KW site at Hapcheon Dam in Gyeongsangnam-do and additionally added 500KW to it last year.
In the industrial solar solution zone, it deployed single-phase inverters capable of up to 50 KW and three-phase inverters with capacity of 50KW as well as a Web monitoring system capable of integrated management of the inverter power generation amount and operation status. In other words, LSIS boasts of technology by which the operation can be monitored via PC, smartphone, etc., information is displayed in real time, and statistics on the power generation amount by hour, day, month, and year can be identified.
On the other hand, the power system solution zone showcased power devices related to solar power systems such as transformers and circuit breakers. The mega-solar solution zone and the housing solar solution zone displayed mega-solar power plant devices ranging from power devices to solar modules, including solar energy package systems for homes such as modules, inverters, connection housings, monitoring systems, and storage cells; thus earning raves among viewers.
Following the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant I accident, Japan has been seeing its solar power system markets grow rapidly each year. Thus, LSIS entered the Japanese market as early as 2009, obtained JET (Japan Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories) certification, which is known to be very difficult to acquire, and penetrated the housing solar energy market and mega-watt power plant market. It has grown by over 200% each year.
“In 2009, LSIS, in tandem with Japanese firms, penetrated the Japanese solar energy market. It has secured optimized solutions such as solar modules, inverters, monitoring systems, and transmission and distribution systems. We plan to build solar power generation systems for 15,000 homes a year across Japan and to develop continuously products tailored to the local mega-solar markets, thereby providing package solutions,” an LSIS official said.
