■ LSIS holds Smart Working, Happy Life event for new managers and their family members
■ Vice Chairman Koo: Be a model leader at home as well through understanding and communications
■ CEO, CFO, and CHO and their wives participate in the event, congratulate new managers and their family members as well
“Plan somewhat unrealistic goals, devise concrete action methods.” This was the advice of LSIS Vice Chairman Koo Ja-kyun, who held a congratulatory event for the 2013 newly promoted managers and their family members, challenging them to gain recognition as respectable leaders at the company and at home as well through better understanding and communications.
LSIS held a Smart Working, Happy Life event on February 6 at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul to congratulate the newly promoted managers and their spouses.
This event started in 2011 at the proposal of Vice Chairman Koo, and this year marks its third year. Attending the event were some 90 people including the newly promoted managers and their spouses from Anyang HQ and research institute and other workplaces in Cheongju, Cheonan, and Busan as well as CEO Koo, CFO Kim Won-il, and CHO Park Hae-ryong and other executives and their wives.
In his congratulatory speech, Chairman Koo noted that LSIS has continued to grow since the group was spun off because staff members have done their best in their duties and because their family members have supported them. He then expressed hope that their promotion will be a true one by earning recognition and respect at home as in the company.
Vice Chairman Koo stressed the need for managers to develop new methods of performing work, conceive creative ideas, and serve as good mentors for their junior colleagues. He urged them to set somewhat challenging and unrealistic goals but devise concrete action methods, thereby making all things possible and growing further.
“The English word ‘understand’ is a combination of under and stand. As the word implies, if you maintain a modest attitude of listening a lot to others and speaking little, you will experience the most ideal understanding and communication method,” he added.
The event was followed by a dinner party and the new managers’ delivery of letter and rose of thanks to their spouses.
In addition, a quiz contest and a gift delivery event were held, and winners received hotel accommodation coupons and gifts. All family members of new managers were presented with walking shoes, which symbolized a prayer for those managers to be off to a good start.
“Although it is challenging for me to be recognized at the company and at home, I am so glad and thankful to be congratulated before my family,” a new manager said.
