▣ Ja-Kyun Koo, CEO and Vice Chairman of LSIS, had a friendly discussion with Mr. Junji Nomura, President of the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), and Mr. Frans Vreeswijk, General Secretary of the IEC. Both are visiting Korea to assess the progress of international standardization in Korea.
▣ On January 22 (Wednesday), Vice Chairman Koo attended a luncheon meeting with the presidential delegates of the IEC at avenue near Seoul and introduced the results of LSIS’s international standardization efforts, including its development of a smart meter, high voltage circuit breaker, and charger for electric vehicles.
▣ Mr. Koo, who is also the Chairman of the Korea Smart Grid Association, expressed his appreciation of the IEC for its collaboration and its pioneering efforts in research and standardization to facilitate the commercialization of the smart grid.
▣ President Junji Nomura, former Vice Chairman of Matsushita Electric Industrial and CTO of Panasonic Corporation, is currently a corporate advisor on energy solution business promotion for Panasonic Corporation, as well as a member of the steering committee of the Japan Smart Grid Alliance and a research group for the ‘next-generation power transmission and distribution’ scheme of Japan.
▣ Frans Vreeswijk, General Secretary of the IEC, was responsible for the development of Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. He is also a former CEO of the Standard Patent Division of Philips.
