■ 7 Vehicles donated to Social Welfare Facilities in Anyang and Cheongju Areas, where HQ and Sites are Located
■ Expected to Improve Overall Quality of Welfare Service and Transportation Convenience of Economically Marginalized People
LSIS is heating up the cold winter with a donation of vehicles for people who require help getting around.
LSIS (represented by Ja-Kyun Koo, Vice Chairperson) held the “Car Key Delivery Ceremony with LSIS for Neighbors in Need” on January 27 in collaboration with the Community Chest of Korea, where the company provided vehicles -- including vans designed for the disabled -- to 7 social welfare facilities, in an effort to improve the convenience of people having difficulty walking around and to provide better welfare support.
The ceremony, held at LS Tower in LS-ro of Anyang City, was joined by about 30 personalities from social welfare facilities and LSIS including Hae-Ryong Park, HR Chief Director of LSIS, and Kyeong-Seok Moon, president of “Save the Children” (Association for Providing Help to Kids with Incurable Disease).
A total of 7 vehicles were donated including 1 wheelchair lifter, 5 vans, and 1 sedan, which were arranged as per the needs and requirements of each welfare facility. Priority is determined for the facilities located in the Anyang and Cheongju areas, which have urgent need for support<?>.
“I hope the vehicles donated today will serve as secure means of transportation for our neighbors with physical difficulties. LSIS will continue to carry out sincerely social contribution activities that can provide practical help to the people in need,” Hae-Ryong Park, chief director of LSIS, commented.
LSIS has made diverse voluntary efforts to implement its LSPartnership initiative.
The company set up sisterhood relations with “House of Love” in Anyang, a community service organization, and designated one day per month as “Day of Volunteering” for service activities for the disabled such as cultural life and living condition improvement service, walking-together event, accompanying them in movie going or shopping, and making donations. Moreover, individual employees and executives, including in-company clubs, have been working with local service/welfare facilities such as “Yulmok Community Welfare Center” for more active contribution.
One of such clubs, “Woori Sarang Club,” has been holding or taking part in CSR activities such as “goodwill mountaineering for sharing happiness” since 2011 to donate the attendance fee to local seniors living alone and orphans, including joining year-end Kimchi-making events to donate Kimchi to the community.
Last November, LSIS donated a 300kWh-class solar energy generation facility for the public restroom of Seonghwan Traditional Market in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do as part of the traditional market revitalization project in cooperation with the Agency for Traditional Market Administration. The facility enables the stores in the market area to save more than 20% of public utility cost while securing the image of an eco-friendly place for the market. Starting from Seonghwan Traditional Market, LSIS will donate such facilities to other traditional markets for their benefit.
