LSIS hired around 100 new employees in 2013 through open recruitment and internship program. For the 90 new recruits employed through an open recruitment process, their cultivation as global leaders in the world’s best heavy electric machine company -- at the outset of their employment -- has begun.
The company invited them to a celebration ceremony held in LS Tower on 12 December 2013 in Anyang, Korea. Following the ceremony, it sent them on a three-day team building trip to Jeju, the most famous resort island in the country, until the 14th.
At the celebration ceremony, LSIS vice chairman and CEO Ja-Kyun Koo presented a company badge to each of the new recruits. He wished them successful careers in the company and asked them to continue to pursue self-development based on their own initiative throughout their careers with the aim of becoming true global leaders in the industry.
“Following the heydays of the shipbuilding, automobile, and electronics industries in the world economy, the electric power industry has now emerged as the next-generation engine of growth for the global economy. It is you who must play the key role in the development of the industry, not just in Korea but across the world as well. Aim to become the world’s best experts in your own fields through challenges and hard work. Maximize your potential. Help LSIS establish itself as the world’s best company in the industry,” Vice Chairman Koo said.
He went on to stress that corporate goals cannot be achieved through the efforts of one or two employees only. “Communicate with your seniors and peers. Collaborate with them. In the process, be sure to make the essence of LSpartnership - Greater Value Together your own value,” he said.
Following the impressive ceremony, new employees took a flight to Jeju for a three-day team-building excursion. On the evening of the 12th, they organized themselves into teams and had a happy time building teamwork among themselves.
The next morning, on the 13th, they went on a tour of the HVDC (High-Voltage Direct Current) demonstration site in Geumak-ri and Dongmyeong-ri in Western Jeju after their visit to the Smart Grid Test-Bed in Gujwa-eup in Eastern Jeju, where they experienced a demonstration house equipped with smart meters, energy management systems, and PV modules/inverters supplied by LSIS.
Afterward, they went to the famous Jeju Olle Trail (Course No. 21: 10.7km). The following morning on the 14th, they climbed Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone, a UNESCO world heritage site, to savor the renowned sunrise view from the peak. Through all these events, they grew much closer to one another than they would in any training session held in an urban environment.
“Through the team building opportunities in Jeju, we were able to communicate a lot not just with our peers but also with our seniors. We saw the potential of the company’s new engine of growth, smart grid technology, at the site. We are so proud,” said In-Tae Kim, one of the trainees. He is looking forward to working for LSIS, and he would like to grow into a global green innovator and join hands with others to build greater values for the company.
“LSIS has arranged the event to celebrate new employees’ success in joining the company. Its top management wanted to instill the corporate vision and mission among them at the outset of their work for the company as a sign of its commitment to cultivate them as global leaders. LSIS wants its personnel to be functioning well in the current cross-industry situations across the world. The company believes that such event will help new recruits begin to develop their capabilities in this regard,” said CHO Hae-Ryong Park.
