■ Ranked 1st among 13 companies in first national project for public bid designed to introduce IHD systems to 20,000 homes
■ Earns recognition for ‘best’ capacity in technology, project implementation; secures supply volume for 7,000 households
LS Industrial Systems has been picked as the priority bidder in a public bid for a state project to introduce the In Home Display (IHD, or Smart Meter Display), a core element of the Smart Grid Project, consolidating its status as a leader in the sector.
LSIS announced recently that it had been selected as the priority bidder - after being ranked top in the evaluation of technology and earning the highest scores in an assessment of over 40 categories, including the capacity to apply IHD at field sites, and past project experience - from among the 13 bidding companies in a project open to public bidding to introduce IHD systems to 20,000 homes. The project, which is hosted by the Korea Smart Grid Institute, is the first Smart Grid project in Korea designed to introduce the systems to general households.
With its selection as the priority bidder, LSIS is set to install IHD systems in 7,000 households, or about 50 percent of the 14,500 households, excluding the volume se aside for the pre-designated project implementer KEPCO consortium (5,500 homes) out of the combined 20, 000 homes, to which the project aim to introduce the system.
LSIS has already secured 14,600 households as targets to supply the IHD system through private-sector builders and the state-run Korea Land and Housing Corp. The company plans to develop IHD systems that will feature auxiliary functions such as digital photo frame, voice alert, home appliances control, and electric utility fee control by August, and complete the installation of the systems from September to December.
