LS Industrial Systems has become the first company to win the No. 1 certification and the highest number of green technology certifications under the government’s green technology validation system by winning 15 of the 19 certifications granted by the government.  

The green technology validation program is jointly conducted by eight government ministries, including the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, to help galvanize private sector investment in the green industry. The program consists of three categories, namely, green technology certification, green business certification, and green company certification.

In the latest review, LSIS acquired 15 certifications in the green technology certification category, in which 74 technologies were entered for evaluation while LG Electronics, and Encel Tech. won three and one, respectively. No winners were selected in the “green business certification” and “green company certification” categories.
 
Candidates undergo an initial first-round review in which their technology, marketability and green advantages are evaluated. The review is conducted by nine evaluation agencies commissioned by the government (including the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology, the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, and the Korea Technology Finance Corporation). The finalists are selected in a final review conducted by a green certification review committee composed of 17 experts from industry, academia and research institutions and senior officials above executive level from the evaluating agencies.

LSIS’ Solar Power Converting Technology (PCS) has become the first technology to win green certification, while LSIS has swept Nos. 1 to 11 of the green technology certifications, setting an extraordinary record. 
The 15 technologies for which LSIS secured green certification this time include smarter meter technology, a core technology for Smart Grid, EV component and system, inverter drive technology, RFID technology, and wind energy PCS, as well as Solar PCS.
