■ Conference will address global market trends and status of optical communications network implementation
■ Focus to be placed on next-generation network technologies and actual implementation cases
Supervised by the FTTH Council Asia Pacific, the 5th FTTH Annual International Conference will be held at the COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu of Seoul on May 25 and 26. This conference will cover the latest trends concerning optical communications network implementation in each country of the region and global market developments, etc.
The conference was prepared with the theme of ‘the Future and Challenges of the Broadband Environment’ based on the keywords of ‘convergence,’ ‘green growth’ and ‘promising future services.’ This event has drawn particular attention as it will examine actual implementation cases for several major projects and trends of restrictions administered by each government as well as the status of development and applications of the next-generation open access network. The conference will raise various issues not readily discussed in Korea, such as the direction of FTTH-based optical network advancement throughout the world.
Moreover, this conference, as an international event involving hundreds of industry participants including government officials and communication service providers from the U.S., France, China and India, etc., will provide a prime opportunity to learn up close and in depth of the status of global broadband implementation and of all the application services provided under the broadband environment.
From Korea, Cheol-jeung Hwang, the Network Policy Bureau Director of the Korea Communications Commission will give a keynote speech under the title of ‘the ICT Network Policy of Korea towards Smart Infrastructure and Its Implications,’ which will inform visiting participants of the excellence of Korean IT. In addition, Chairman See-jung Choi of the KCC will give a congratulatory speech.
Euy-don Park, head of LS Cable’s Communication Division and Conference Organization Committee said, “Korea is an advanced nation in terms of optical communications, as the nation has already implemented an advanced real-time ‘u-City’ and has been providing FTTH-based IPTV services since 2009.”Park added, “This conference will be an opportunity to showcase to the world the excellence of Korea’s communication services.
