LS Cable successfully received an independent order for the local air-conditioning project of US$12 million. The order will take charge of the whole air-conditioning of Motorcity, which is currently under construction in Dubai. They won the project despite fierce competition from leading US enterprises. 

Motorcity was constructed through the investment of US$700 million by Union Properties, Dubai and is a theme city. Formula 1, theme park, automotive racing track, office, and living complex will be constructed. 

LS Cable will supply 32 turbo refrigerators of 2,500RT capacity (Refrigeration Ton / 1RT is 33㎡) 4 times starting from December this year to the first half in 2009. It is the biggest local refrigeration project in the Middle East with a scale of 80,000 RT capacity in total.

Turbo refrigerators (which will be supplied by LS Cable) use R134a; a new refrigerant that does not contain chlorine. This new technology will stop the destruction of the ozone layer.
 
They participated in 2-3 projects in Dubai and decided to evolve the marketing activities for Middle Eastern countries (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain).

This order is meaningful as it is a bridgehead to preoccupy the Middle East market with big-scale local refrigeration projects. It will also show off the technology and quality of LS Cable at a world-class level. The opportunity of a successful order increases the development of the overseas market. They plan to export more than US$30 million in turbo refrigerators. 

Refrigeration is commonly used because of 45℃ temperatures in Dubai local. Huge investment and construction are being made in worldwide finance and logistic hubs in this region. It has a huge potential in the refrigerator market. 

* Local refrigeration: As a similar concept to local heating, it is a group system of refrigeration through cold water economically produced from big-scale production facilities of cold water. Individual consumers do not need to establish separate cooling equipment. It is a cooling system for installing indoor equipment only.
