■ The second report containing performance in 2010 and promotion goals for 2011 
■ President J.S. Shim - Sustainability management is a key to sustainable growth and creating new opportunities 

LS Mtron (President & CEO J.S. Shim), an industrial machinery and high-tech parts specialist of LS Group, secured a foundation for a takeoff as it achieved a high level of sales growth last year by more than 30% from the previous year. The achievement was enabled by implementation and practice of the enterprise-level sustainability management system. On the 13th, LS Mtron announced publication of M Story, the company’s second sustainability report containing stories of the sustainability management system implementation and practice.

In order to continuously provide values to customers and the society centering on innovative products and services, LS Mtron actively promoted sustainability management in 2010 following 2009. Through the effort, LS Mtron decisively carried out production innovation in addition to the achievement of sales growth in all business fields including tractor and mold injection system. In addition, LS Mtron led growth by establishing a technological development cooperation fund through public – private joint investment. Moreover, to strengthen eco-friendly management, LS Mtron has set out the greenhouse gas inventory implementation and reduction goals targeting all business units. In 2011, LS Mtron is realizing more than 71% of last year’s eco-friendly products sales.

In addition to the details of performance in 2010 in comparison to the plans proposed in the 2009 report, this year’s report outlines the goals to be promoted in 2011. Moreover, this report contains detailed information of the financial performance and business outcomes to facilitate all stakeholders’ understanding of LS Mtron. The report was published in Korean and English languages. 

To strengthen sustainability management system, LS Mtron holds enterprise-level conference every two months and is conducting comprehensive improvement activities. In addition, LS Mtron is operating five subcommittees for green management, win-win cooperation and social contribution in order to increase the company’s management and execution competencies in relation to key issues. From this year, KPI (key performance index) for sustainability management is set and reflected to the enterprise-level assessment system. As a result of sustainability management practice and efforts, LS Mtron is being acknowledged externally as it won the top prize at the 5th Sustainability Management Award hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and was ranked No. 1 in electrical and electronic manufacturing business category at the 2010 Korea Sustainability Award.
