LS Mtron (President & CEO J.S. Shim), an industrial machinery and high-tech parts specialist of LS Group, held a completion ceremony of Van Phu Elementary School building in Son Duong, Tuyen Quang of Vietnam with approx. 300 attendants including Executive Director Gyeong-Il Park of LS Mtron’s Support Division, Vice President butie of the Tuyen Quang People’s Committee and Director Bo-Yong Lee of Good Neighbors Vietnam Branch.

LS Mtron, as part of the LS Mtron Global Happy Village Campaign, has been implementing a project to construct the Van Phu Elementary School building since September last year through joint efforts with Good Neighbors (President: Il-Ha Lee), an international aid development NGO. Built with mud bricks 20 years ago, the existing school building was old and lacked classrooms and therefore classes were run in double shift. However, with funding support from LS Mtron and the school site of 6,600m2 provided by the Vietnamese government, a new two-story building of 8 classrooms was completed together with a faculty office. In the new semester, students including those who have been studying in a branch school will be able to receive high-quality education in new environments. The previous school building will be used as a community hall for local residents. 

The 10 members of LS Mtron’s employees’ service team shed sweats as they performed service activities including wall painting and creating a flower garden for the new school building. In addition, the team took part in developing human resources for the future of Vietnam by performing diverse educational service activities, such as organizing a sports day event and an art class that were new to the local students. 

The Van Phu Elementary School building construction project was organically implemented through cooperation and communication among a number of stakeholders including LS Mtron (project support and sending volunteers), Vietnamese government (providing site), the Vietnamese Embassy to Korea (cooperation), Good Neighbors (project management) and the Vietnamese People’s Committee (supporting project implementation in Vietnam). Therefore, it is forecasted that this project will set an example for overseas service activities to be carried out in the future. 

President J.S. Shim of LS Mtron said, “The completion ceremony of Van Phu Elementary School building was a significant event as it was the first fruit of LS Mtron’s global social contribution activities.” He added, “As we continuously undergo R&D and investment for sustainable growth, LS Mtron will dedicate passion and effort in pursuing service activities in the future.”
