LSIS was honored with the number one ranking for the second year running in the country’s only total quality satisfaction index, the KS-QEI (Korean Standard ? Quality Excellence Index), in the representative automation product category including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and inverters.

The 2014 KS-QEI Awards, hosted by the KSA (Korean Standard Association), were held at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, on September 18.

The KSA announced that LSIS’s PLCs and inverters have earned a superior evaluation in the category of emotional quality and use quality in its recent surveys of general consumers and experts, compared to other companies. The KSQEI consists of an emotional quality index that evaluates the image and design excellence of products and brands, and a use quality index that evaluates products’ performance, reliability and safety.

LSIS, a leading company in the industrial automation category, provides a wide range of industrial automation solutions based on technologies accumulated over several decades, having secured world-class technological capabilities through the Automation & Drive (A&D) Research Center under the control of its A&D Team.

A PLC is a universal control device used for programming and activating industrial and manufacturing machines according to defined orders and conditions. Incidentally, LSIS succeeded in developing and producing the country’s first PLC back in 1987.

An inverter is a device for changing a motor’s power voltage and frequency in order to control its rotational speed, thereby optimizing its speed for a specific production environment and reducing unnecessary or wasteful energy consumption.

Notably, in connection with the problem of power demand and supply imbalance, which occurs each year, the inverter’s power-saving effect is attracting much attention. As such, the government requires public agencies to use high-efficiency inverters, and encourages private companies to install them by providing diverse incentives including grants and tax breaks.

Mr. Kwon Bong-hyeon, the LSIS’s A&D Project Team Chief, stated: “This award should be attributed to our continuous and bold investment in producing the best quality, and our positive communications with customers at the service frontlines. By embracing quality management, and always thinking of our customers and putting quality first, we vow to keep the top spot for the next five, or even ten, years.”

The KSQEI, marking its 10th anniversary this year since its launch in 2005, certifies customer satisfaction and quality superiority. This year, 23 companies, including LSIS, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motors, KCC, KEPCO KPS, and Hankook Tire, were ranked number one in 26 categories.
