LSIS unveiled South Korea’s first smart-grid-based integrated energy management solution brand at theKorea Smart Grid Expo 2014, Asia’s top smart grid industry exhibition. 

At KSGE 2014, held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul from October 14 ?16, LSIS unveiled the country’s first smart-grid brand GridSol, and presented a full lineup of smart-grid green business solutions in all categories ranging from power generation to transmission to distribution.

GridSol is a smart-grid total energy management solution designed for adoption by green businesses based onLSIS’s world-class capability and automation technologies for integrating electricity, heat, gas, water and other forms of energy into a single network characterized by optimal operational efficiency.

The company’s strategy aims to integratediverse smart-grid solutions - including power generation and distribution IT, HVDC, solar solutions, electric and electronic parts for green cars, public infrastructures, and energy management systems (EMS) - under the integrated brand of GridSolin a drive to massively boost its business competitiveness.

GridSol makes it possible to provide individual customer-tailored solutions forthe generation of renewable energy and the construction of smart distribution grids and energy management systems in the key categories of power generation, energy storage, transportation, and renewable energy, thereby enabling direct control by consumers.

In addition, total solutions can be supplied using a turnkey method encompassing design, purchase and construction, raising expectations that LSIS will be able to control renewable energy markets,including energy-independent cities, with the application of micro grids.

LSIS also introducedfive key solutions under the GridSol brand at the expo, including Smart Power Grid, Smart Saving, Smart Consumption, Smart Transportation, and Smart Renewable, allowing general users to experience and boost their understanding ofthe GridSol concept.

In the Smart Power Grid category, LSIS presented the next-generation Korean-type national energy management system (EMS), which it developed jointly with the Korea Electro Technology Research Institute and KEPCO-KDN in 2010, as well as Jeju EMS, constructed in 2004, and Naju EMS,which is scheduled for completion this month.

Alongside these exciting innovations, the company presented a number of power system stabilization solutions such as High Voltage Direct Current Transmission (HDVC) systems,sometimes referred to as“the flower of transmission technology”, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and Distribution Management Systems (DMS).

The Smart Saving category featured Electrical Energy Storage (EES), regarded as a hot new means of managing energy demand, and 1MW EES PCS, which can be applied in small-capacity home,commercial and utility EES. 

LSIS also attracted attention with its other featured solutions includinga water solar module,the company’s representative strategic solar product, a solar inverter (PCU), green-car solutions including power-control systems and motor-speed control systems, and railroad signal control systems, which are essential for the safe and efficient operation of trains.
