LSIS won an additional order for the 132kV/33kV GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) substation project from the Iraqi government, with cumulative orders exceeding USD 82 million for H2 alone.
With regard to winning three orders for 132kV/33kV GIS substations, Seo Jeong-min, who is responsible for LSIS’s Iraqi projects, signed on October 30 on behalf of LSIS an agreement with Mohammed Fawzi Al-Zaidi, who is responsible for Iraqi MOE (Ministry of Energy) power transmission, at ETP under the control of MOE in Iraq. A total of 20 personnel from both sides attended the ceremony.
This project is valued at USD 39 million (KRW 41.4 billion), and the term of agreement is 12 months.
LSIS additionally won a bid for substation projects in addition to USD 35.12 million and USD 8.45 million for July and August, respectively; thus posting USD 82.57 million (KRW 87.5 billion) in cumulative orders by the second half alone. The company’s cumulative orders in Iraqi reconstruction projects since 2011 have exceeded USD 370 million.
The 132/33kV GIS substation converts high-voltage power from a power generation plant into low-voltage power before supplying it to homes and factories.
In the bid, LSIS bested world-class companies such as Siemens and ABB and won the deal, proving its excellent technological power and reliability in the power infrastructure area.
“We won this order because we have successfully implemented Iraqi power projects, which earned us recognition for our technological power and reliability. With Iraq seeking to invest USD 94.5 billion to secure 25GW power capacity by 2017, we expect to solidify our market leadership further,” said Seo Jeong-min, who is responsible for LSIS’s Iraqi PM.
