■ European automakers express keen interest in LSIS after its selection as GM’s primary subcontractor
LS Industrial Systems (LSIS) recently took part in the world’s largest auto part exhibition, Automechanika 2010, held in Frankfurt, Germany from September 14 to 19, simultaneously stepping up its advance into the global green car parts market.
Under the motto, “Everything that drives automobiles,” Automechanika has been held annually since 1971, and is now the world’s largest auto parts exhibition. As such, it is considered a premier mart for the automobile industry, where the world’s leading automakers in Europe, Japan and the U.S. gather to discover new technologies and products.
LSIS attracted keen attention from visitors to the expo with displays of its Power Control Unit, which regulates the control function concerning electric motors’ torque; an On-Board Charger that can be installed inside the vehicle for battery charging; EV relays, responsible for the stable supply and shut-off of power from the battery; a Battery Disconnect Unit (BDU); and a charging stand.
An LSIS official said, “By presenting an image of an electric vehicle in the process of charging, we have consolidated our status as the undisputed leader in the green car field, with the capacity to provide all solutions with regard to electric vehicle parts and charging systems,” adding, “LSIS’ participation in this exhibition represents our commitment to introducing the company’s technological prowess in the green car parts area, as well as to promoting the excellence of Korean companies.”
LSIS was picked this year as a primary subcontractor of General Motors (GM), the world’s largest automaker, and is set to supply parts for hybrid electric vehicles. The company is drawing keen attention from major European automakers, including Renault, Daimler, Volkswagen, and Audi.
Notably, LSIS is capturing the attention of global auto manufacturers owing to its ample know-how in electric networks as a leading player in the Smart Grid, on top of its leadership in the auto parts business.
On the strength of these efforts, LSIS plans to win annual orders worth 1 trillion won for core parts for the green car business alone by 2013
