■ An opportunity to promote mutual understanding and win-win development between Korea and Vietnam 
■ Key personnel from the Vietnamese government and Korea’s political and financial circles participated in the event to build fellowship 

LS Cable & System’s Chairman and CEO Christopher Koo joined Vietnamese Premier Truong Tan Sang on a visit to Korea at a banquet held at Hotel Shilla on the 9th (Wed). At the event, Chairman Koo emphasized, “Korea and Vietnam must cooperate with each other for mutual development in diverse areas, such as not only economic, but also cultural and social fields.” He added, “As an Honorary Consul to Vietnam, I will do my best to find opportunities for mutual understanding and win-win development between Korea and Vietnam.” 

“Vietnam’s economy is growing at an unprecedented rate. The annual average growth rate over the last 10 years has been as high as 7.2%,” said Chairman Koo. “Korean companies will need to play greater roles in the future for Vietnam’s economic development.” 

Premier Truong Tan Sang responded, “As an exemplary success case of foreign companies’ entry into the Vietnamese market, LS Cable & System has been making numerous contributions to our nation’s economic development.” He added, “I hope LS Cable & System will continue to make efforts for economic development of both Korea and Vietnam.” 

Since his appointment as an Honorary Consul to Vietnam in 2010, LS Cable & System Chairman & CEO Christopher Koo has been supporting major events in Vietnam including the LS ? Vietnam Baduk Championship 2011, the 65th Vietnamese Independence Day, the Vietnam Culture and Tourism Festival, the Korea ? Vietnam Friendship Night, the Korean Opinions Leaders Awards and local cultural experience programs. 

Member of the National Assembly, Byung Suk Lee, LG Electronics Vice Chairman & CEO, Bon-Joon Koo and 20 key personnel from Korea’s political and financial sectors as well as 18 important members of the Vietnamese government including Foreign Affairs Minister Pham Binh Minh attended the banquet to build friendship and promote economic development between the countries. 

LS Cable & System entered the Vietnamese market in 1996 and has grown to now employ approx. 600 employees at two local companies with recorded sales reaching $350 million (equivalent to approx. KRW 390 billion) annually. With this, the Company is contributing to gainful employment and economic development in Vietnam. In addition, LS Cable & System has been sponsoring a group of volunteer service workers consisting of Korean college students who travel each year to Vietnam in an effort to promote non-governmental interchange. With the efforts recognized, LS Cable & System was awarded the Class 2 labor medal from the Vietnamese Government and the Golden Dragon Award from the Vietnam Economic Times in March this year.
